Company Secretaries and Governance Professionals Toolkit Training PDF Print E-mail

The role of the company secretary and governance professional is in constant flux; now more so than ever as the number of companies who have become embroiled in governance scandals increase and the global economy counts the cost of some of these failures.

As a result, global corporate governance standards and rules have become more demanding and rigorous. The role of company secretary and governance professional has evolved from performing only compliance and administrative functions to having a much more strategic and deliberative role as custodians of corporate governance.

The level of responsibility calls for a thorough knowledge of the business of the organisation and of the laws, rules and regulations that govern its activities. However, it also demands the ability for a high level of engagement within the company at various levels. This presupposes skills which involve high levels of diplomacy and astute judgment.

With this in mind CGISA announces the launch of the Company Secretaries and Governance Professionals Toolkit course. The toolkit comprises 15 modules to facilitate the development of company secretaries and governance professionals at various stages of their careers in their dynamic and evolving role.

This course has been developed by Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group).

The toolkit therefore provides an international framework of essential principles which are universally applied to listed and unlisted companies and to the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

There will be approximately one module per month. Applicants can either attend the entire series or are free to choose modules which are of interest to them.
